Hi from the Nashes

Enjoy pictures from the family.

FTC (First Tech Challenge) Atlanta

Nathan and Alan attended the FTC challenge in Atlanta April 14-17th, 2010. The first day of competition went great - the Sabercats won all three competitions and ended up 3-0. At this point they were one of the top teams. The second day did not go as well and they ended up 19th overall. They finally got home early Sunday morning - 2am but where ecstatic about their experience both with the tech challenge itself but also with seeing alot of other students involved in technology. Fossil Ridge Band Pictures

Nathan spent Spring Break 2010 with the high school Band in Orlando Florida. They visited Epcot Center, Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, Cocoa Beach, and CirQue de Soleil. They marched at the Magic Kingdom. They had hoped to see a shuttle launch but the lauched recently had been delayed. Amazming Nathan took a number of pictures that can be viewed here.

Nathan had a great time in the High School Band during the 2009-2010 school year. You can see Nathan's picture's here and all band pictures here. The band took 5th place at the state competition.

Wild West Relay Exchange 10

Scout Troop 188 hosted Wild West Relay Exchange 10 on August 7th. Alan, Nathan and I participated in the event.

Glendo Camping and Boating

For the weekend of July 17-19th we camped and boated at Glendo Resevior in Wyoming. We spent the weekend with about 25 folks from Fort Collins. Great weekend to spend boating and camping with friends. Weather was perfect until Sunday afternoon when the wind picked up substrantially. It made getting the boats off the resevior quite the challenge.

Moab Bike Trip

Moab

In early June 2009 we traveled to Moab with Troop 188 Scouts for a high adventure mountain bike trip.

  • Friends and relatives - too many to name
  • Steamboat Springs - Spring 2009

SkiingFor Spring Break 2008 we spent a week with the Bakels at Steamboat Springs Resort. The skiing was definitely spring conditions as the high temps during the day was 50F. At night it dropped below freezing so it took awhile for the snow to soften up in the morning. Consequently, no one was anxious to get to the slopes before 10am. The boys liked that since they could stay up late and sleepin. The boys liked skiing the shoots (very steep) while the parents skied the intermediate and expert ski runs.

    Klondike - February 2008

Nathan and I attended the scout Klondike at Gould Community Center. This year we had warmer temperatures. We camped in snow ~4 feet deep the first weekend in February.

KlondikeLow temperatures at night was 15 to 20 degrees. We only picked up 38 frost points for the weekend. One frost point is earned for each degree below 32 degrees over a 24 hour period.

Nathan with other scouts built quinzees which is is a shelter made by hollowing out a pile of settled snow. Nathan can attest that it's a lot of work to build one.

    Thanksgiving 2008

    NashLoewLein

We spent Thanksgiving 2008 in Ohio together with family. The cousins had a great time catching up on family news. Unfortunately mom had just passed on. A difficult time for all of us but her passing was a celebration of life for all she has given to us.

    Oregon Coast - Summer 2008

    Lighthouse

In the summer of 2008 we took a trip along the Oregon Coast. Marylou attended a conference and then we picked her up in Portland. We then proceeded to camp along the coast, moving north to south. Highlights for the boys was riding ATVs on the Oregon Sand Dunes and kayaking.

Unfortunately for me my camera and lens got stolen in Norther California in a camp ground. Lesson learned - you need to be on guard no matter where you are.
